Why I Really Like Working with First Time Home Buyers

Today I’m spending a bit of time to tell you why First Time Home Buyers are one of my favorite groups of clients to work with. There’s really a couple of reasons, but the number one reason is because they are fun to work with. Many of my first time buyers are at an exciting point in their lives. They are often graduating from college, starting their first job, getting married or maybe having their first child. They are exited about their lives and excited about buying their first home. I love having the opportunity to share that experience with them, and to make sure their first home buying experience is truly enjoyable.

Now, I know some of you veteran home owners are probably thinking, “Yeah Right!”  If you’ve bought a couple of homes in your lifetime then you may have had a stressful experience, especially if it was in another state where there’s more red tape to wade through.  That’s the beauty of my first time buyers. They don’t have any pre-conceived notions of what to expect, and they believe me when I tell them it’s going to be a fun experience.  Of course, I also deliver on that promise! Ask any first time buyers that I’ve worked with and they’ll tell you they had a blast.

The other reason I really enjoy working with first time home buyers is that it gives me the opportunity to teach them about the home buying process. I’m able to show them step by step what to expect. It gives me the chance to teach them what to look for in a house in terms of both quality and potential problems. They learn about the importance of home inspection and how to handle repair issues. You see, it’s important to me that the buyer have a great experience buying a home AND that they get a good quality home.  If the home inspector indicates a problem, I won’t think twice about bringing in someone specializing in that area. From Structural Engineers, roofers, plumbers, or central heat and air specialists – whatever it takes to ensure the buyer isn’t buying a problem.  After all, the easiest way to avoid a problem is to not buy it in the first place!

It’s important to me that my first time buyers learn about these things because someday they may be buying a house in another state. I want them to know what to look for in a home, and also what to look for in an agent so that their interests are protected and they receive top notch service.  Once you’ve experienced those things, it’s easy to see when they are missing.

Are you a first time buyer looking to have a great experience buying your first home? Perhaps you know a first time buyer and want to make sure they are well represented? If so, please give me a call, text or e-mail. It would be my honor and pleasure to assist you.
